President Tinubu Congratulates Oyebanji on Ekiti Re-election Victory
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of continuity and people-centred leadership.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully and orderly throughout the election, while also praising security agencies for maintaining law and order.
The President urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain efforts toward conducting peaceful, free, fair, and credible elections ahead of the Osun governorship poll in August and the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, Oyebanji’s victory makes him the first governor in Ekiti State’s history to secure back-to-back re-election, a feat Tinubu attributed to the achievements recorded during his first term.
The President highlighted the governor’s performance in infrastructure, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare, and rural development under the BAO agenda, describing the renewed mandate as a clear vote of confidence from the electorate.
Tinubu also called on Governor Oyebanji to remain magnanimous in victory by carrying all segments of the state along while consolidating on his administration’s achievements over the next four years.
He further commended the other candidates who participated in the election for exercising their democratic rights and urged them to support the governor in advancing the development of Ekiti State.
The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to working closely with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more dividends of democracy and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.
