Insecurity: Gov. Lawal Commends Troops for Recovering 329 Rustled Cattle in Zamfara
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has commended security operatives for their commitment to tackling banditry following the recovery of 329 rustled cattle and 175 sheep during an operation in Gummi Local Government Area.
The recovery was carried out on Saturday by the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the Zamfara State Police Command during an operation in the Gambanda Forest, where officers also recovered weapons and ammunition from suspected bandits.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, Governor Lawal described the operation as an encouraging development in the state’s ongoing fight against insecurity.
The governor praised the resilience and bravery of the police officers, noting that they successfully engaged and overpowered the bandits, leading to the recovery of the livestock and weapons.
He also lauded the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammad Bello, saying his guidance has strengthened public safety efforts and enhanced the campaign against banditry in Zamfara State.
Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting all security agencies in their efforts to restore peace and protect the lives and livelihoods of residents across the state.
