Tinubu Has Not Ended Insecurity, But Government’s Efforts Deserve Recognition — APC Lawmaker

A member of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Gagdi, has said that although insecurity remains a major challenge in Nigeria, the administration of President Bola Tinubu has made genuine efforts to tackle the problem.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, the lawmaker, who represents Pankshin/Kanam/Kanke Federal Constituency of Plateau State, argued that it would be unfair to suggest the Federal Government has done nothing to improve security.

According to Gagdi, there is a clear difference between making efforts to address insecurity and completely eliminating it, stressing that the Tinubu administration’s commitment should be acknowledged even if the desired results have not yet been fully achieved.

He also revealed that he has openly criticised some of the government’s security policies on the floor of the House of Representatives, insisting that constructive criticism is necessary to strengthen the country’s security response.

The APC lawmaker, however, accused some opposition politicians of exploiting Nigeria’s security challenges for political gain instead of offering practical solutions. He urged political leaders to focus on contributing ideas that can help resolve the country’s security problems rather than using the situation to score partisan points.

Gagdi maintained that national conversations should be centred on finding lasting solutions to insecurity in the interest of all Nigerians.
