APC Replaces Suswam, 25 Other Candidates in Revised 2027 Election List

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has submitted a revised list of candidates for the 2027 general election to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), replacing seven senatorial candidates and 19 House of Representatives nominees after reviewing the outcome of its primary elections.

The updated list, signed by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, stated that the changes were made following recommendations by the party’s Primary Election Appeal Committee.

One of the most notable changes is the removal of former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam as the APC’s senatorial candidate for Benue North-East. He has been replaced by Senator Emmanuel Udende.

The revised senatorial list also restores the candidacies of several serving senators. In Abia South, former National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) Chief Executive Officer, Prince Paul Ikonne, replaces Uchenna Erondu as the party’s candidate.

Other senatorial substitutions include Sunday Karimi for Kogi West, Titus Zam for Benue North-West, Shuaibu Isa Lau for Taraba North, Adeniyi Adegbonmire for Ondo Central, and Olajide Ipinsagba for Ondo North.

The APC also made extensive changes to its House of Representatives candidates across Benue, Taraba, Niger, Kwara, Ondo, Kaduna, Abia and Ebonyi states, replacing 19 nominees with new candidates ahead of the elections.

The party had concluded its senatorial and House of Representatives primaries in May, producing a mix of serving governors, former governors and incumbent lawmakers as candidates for the 2027 polls.

Prominent APC figures who retained their senatorial tickets include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule.
