Kebbi ADC Says Low Voters Turnout Signals Growing Dissatisfaction with APC in Zuru

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Kebbi State has described the low voter turnout recorded during the Zuru State Constituency by-election as a sign of growing public dissatisfaction with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Publicity Secretary of the party, Abubakar Atiku Musa, the ADC expressed concern that despite the APC’s control of the state government and the presence of top government officials and party leaders in Zuru, voter participation remained very low.
The party noted that senior government functionaries, including the Deputy Governor, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Local Government Chairmen, Councillors, party executives and other stakeholders, were present during the election in an apparent effort to mobilise support for the ruling party.
According to the ADC, the APC’s inability to secure what it described as significant voter participation from the over 109,000 registered voters in Zuru Local Government Area reflects increasing dissatisfaction among the electorate.
The opposition party argued that the outcome should serve as a wake-up call for the government to pay greater attention to the needs and aspirations of the people.
The ADC further maintained that the low turnout demonstrates the desire of citizens for a new direction anchored on accountability, transparency and good governance.
