Tinubu Administration Approves Landmark N3.9 Trillion Road Projects Across Nigeria
President Bola Tinubu has approved 27 major road projects worth more than N3.9 trillion across 15 states as part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure and boost economic development.
The approvals were announced by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday.
According to Umahi, the projects will be executed in Adamawa, Benue, Cross River, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Taraba and Yobe states.
Among the largest projects is the re-award of the 409-kilometre dual carriageway in Niger State under the tax credit scheme to businessman Aliko Dangote at a cost of N1.8 trillion.
Other approvals include the dualisation of the Ilorin–Ogbomoso Road, reconstruction of the Iseyin–Eruwa–Agbesi Road linking Oyo and Kwara states, the Abakaliki–Afikpo Road in Ebonyi State, and several road rehabilitation and construction projects across Oyo, Osun, Kogi, Plateau, Adamawa, Taraba, Benue, Cross River, Ekiti, Ondo, Lagos and Yobe states.
The council also approved the full business case for the operation and maintenance concession of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and directed immediate reconstruction of failed sections of the road around the Ibadan axis using concrete pavement.
Umahi further announced that the first 118-kilometre section of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Highway, valued at N137 billion, has been completed.
The Federal Government says the projects are aimed at improving connectivity, easing transportation, enhancing trade and supporting economic growth across the country.
