Gunmen Abduct Bride, Bridesmaids, Nine Women in Sokoto Village Attack Hours to Wedding

Heavily armed gunmen reportedly stormed Chacho village in Wurno Local Government Area just hours before a wedding ceremony, throwing the community into panic and confusion.

Sources said the attackers abducted the bride, her bridesmaids, and nine other women during the raid forcing many residents to flee for safety. The incident disrupted preparations for the ceremony and left families in distress and towards all efforts to secure the victims ’ release.

Community leaders disclosed that Chacho village has experienced about 10 attacks in the last five years, resulting in the deaths of more than 30 people and widespread destruction.

Residents blamed poor telecommunications coverage in the area for delayed emergency responses, saying the inability to quickly contact security agencies has worsened the security situation and left communities vulnerable during attacks.
