Tangaza LG Chairman Resigns from Office, Quits APC

The Executive Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area in Sokoto State, Hon. Isah Salihu Bashir Kalanjeni, has resigned from his position and also formally withdrawn his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a resignation letter dated July 7, 2026, addressed to the Secretary to the State Government and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kalanjeni announced his immediate resignation as Executive Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area.

He said the decision followed extensive consultations with his family, political associates and community stakeholders. According to him, recent unavoidable administrative challenges had made it difficult for him to continue discharging the responsibilities of his office to the standard expected of him.

Kalanjeni expressed appreciation to the electorate, the legislative arm of the council and members of staff for the opportunity to serve the people of Tangaza, while wishing the incoming leadership success.

In a separate letter dated May 5, 2026, addressed to the APC Ward Chairman of Kalanjeni Ward, Tangaza Local Government Area, Kalanjeni also formally resigned his membership of the ruling APC with immediate effect.

He stated that his decision to leave the party was based on personal reasons and thanked the party for the opportunity to be a member.

The twin resignations come amid political developments in Sokoto State, although Hon. Kalanjeni did not disclose any plans regarding his future political affiliation.
