FRSC Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Hawking, Trading in Sokoto Metropolis
The Federal Road Safety Corps Sokoto Sector Command has sustained its special enforcement operation against illegal hawking, roadside trading, and indiscriminate waiting along major flyovers and roundabouts in the Sokoto metropolis.
The exercise was led by the Head of Public Enlightenment and Education, Abubakar A. Romo, who supervised operations at Guest Inn Roundabout, Gidan Man Ada. The enforcement team also monitored compliance at key locations including Dandima Flyover, Alu Flyover, and Rijiya Flyover.
Further sensitization and enforcement activities were extended to Unguwar Rogo Roundabout and Ali Akilu Road. According to observations from the operation, compliance levels were moderate, estimated at between 50 and 60 percent. However some violations were still recorded prompting the need for sustained enforcement and public awareness campaigns.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring smooth traffic flow, reducing road crashes, and improving road safety through continuous monitoring and stakeholder engagement.
