Tinubu Swears In Dr. Muttaqha Darma as Housing Minister
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially sworn in Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma as the new Minister of Housing and Urban Development.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Friday at the State House in Abuja following Dr. Darma’s confirmation by the Senate.
Dr. Darma, who hails from Katsina State, replaces Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, who recently resigned from office.
Speaking during the ceremony, President Tinubu described the new minister as a capable and experienced leader needed at a crucial stage of national development.
“You have a very rich and interesting background. As a leader, we need competent hands like yours,” the President said.
He added that Dr. Darma had demonstrated competence in previous assignments and was well suited for the new role.
Dr. Darma is an academic and administrator with degrees in engineering and business administration.
He studied at Bayero University Kano, University of Benin, University of Liverpool, and Atlantic International University.
He previously served as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund from 2008 to 2012 and also held commissioner positions in Katsina State.
Before his appointment, he was President of the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Human Development Centre.
His appointment comes as the Federal Government seeks to strengthen efforts in housing delivery and urban development across the country, the statement added issued by the Presidential Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.
