DEMOCRACY DAY: Tambuwal Urges Unity, Says Greater Nigeria Is Possible
Former Governor of Sokoto State and Senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has called on Nigerians to remain committed to democratic values and national unity, saying a greater and more prosperous Nigeria is achievable through collective effort.
In his Democracy Day message, Tambuwal urged citizens to reflect on the nation’s democratic journey, while acknowledging the challenges of insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, poverty, and social divisions facing the country.
He stressed that Nigerians must not lose faith in democracy or the nation’s future, noting that nation-building requires sacrifice, patriotism, tolerance, and dedication to the common good.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives paid tribute to those who fought for Nigeria’s democratic freedoms and called for renewed commitment to justice, accountability, inclusion, and good governance.
Tambuwal also emphasized the need to strengthen democratic institutions, uphold the rule of law, and create opportunities for all citizens, regardless of their background, religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation.
According to him, Nigeria’s current challenges should unite rather than divide the people, urging citizens to work together across ethnic, religious, political, and regional lines to build a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive nation.
He expressed hope that Democracy Day would inspire Nigerians to renew their commitment to responsible citizenship and the collective pursuit of a better future for generations to come.
