The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State has announced the nomination of Hon. Bello Isah Ambarura as the party’s deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the ADC Publicity Secretary, Sokoto State Caretaker Committee, Lamir Aminu and dated July 20, 2026.
Ambarura, who currently represents Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, will run alongside the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Munir Muhammad Dan’iya, FCNA.
According to the statement, the nomination was made in line with Section 187(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), following what the party described as extensive consultations and careful consideration aimed at presenting a competent and people oriented leadership team for Sokoto State.
The ADC described Ambarura as a seasoned technocrat and accomplished public servant who rose through the ranks of the Sokoto State Civil Service to become a Permanent Secretary before retiring.
The party noted that after his retirement, he served as Commissioner for Commerce and Industries before being elected to the Sokoto State House of Assembly, where he represented his constituency from 2019 to 2023 and served as Majority Leader.
He is currently serving as the member representing Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The party expressed confidence that Ambarura’s experience in public administration and legislative service would complement the leadership of its governorship candidate, saying the ticket represents a credible and capable team for the 2027 election.
ADC also congratulated Ambarura on his nomination and urged party members, supporters and the people of Sokoto State to rally behind the ticket ahead of the governorship election.
