Kwankwaso Denies ADC Realignment Rumours, Says No Decision Yet on Political Future

In a statement addressing recent developments within the party, Kwankwaso said ongoing narratives about his alleged moves were misleading, noting that consultations are still in progress.

He explained that while the Supreme Court of Nigeria recently affirmed the leadership of the ADC’s National Working Committee under David Mark, it also returned the matter to the High Court, leaving the party in what he described as a “precarious position.”

Kwankwaso further pointed out that a ruling by the Federal High Court has invalidated the party’s recent convention, while the Federal Ministry of Justice Nigeria, through the Attorney General of the Federation, has taken steps to deregister the ADC, developments he said have deepened uncertainty within the party.

The former Defence Minister noted that his political movement had earlier exited the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) due to legal challenges, adding that similar issues now confronting the ADC have prompted fresh consultations.

According to him, discussions are ongoing with stakeholders across multiple platforms, including the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) and the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), aimed at determining the most viable path forward.

On speculations about a possible presidential ambition, Kwankwaso reiterated that he has neither declared interest nor endorsed any aspirant, stressing that the ADC has yet to zone its presidential ticket or decide on a candidate.

He recalled his past roles in promoting party unity, including his participation in the 2014 APC presidential primary won by Muhammadu Buhari, and his support for Atiku Abubakar after the 2019 PDP primaries.

Kwankwaso also clarified that his absence from recent ADC stakeholders’ meetings was due to personal commitments, for which he had duly informed the party leadership.

He assured that any decision regarding his political direction would be communicated officially at the appropriate time, reaffirming his commitment to democratic principles and national interest.
