BREAKING: Tinubu, Shettima Lead APC 2027 Campaign Council as Yari Emerges DG

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council as chairman and vice chairman ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The composition of the council was announced on Saturday, with former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, appointed as Director-General, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as Secretary.
APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will also serve as vice chairman of the council. Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman were appointed deputy secretary and assistant secretary respectively.
The council’s advisory body includes former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; Chief Segun Osoba; Senator Rochas Okorocha; Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed deputy directors-general for the southern and northern zones. They will work with Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Senate President Jibril Barau.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole will oversee mobilisation as deputy director-general, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as deputy director-general for administration.
James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.
Faleke will coordinate zonal directors covering the six geopolitical zones, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
Muiz Adeyemi Banire will head the legal directorate, while Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, will coordinate media and strategic communication.
Other key figures in the media directorate include Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu, with Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka serving as coordinating deputy directors.
Segun Dada will return as Director of New Media, the same position he held during the 2022/2023 campaign.
The campaign council also named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
President Tinubu charged members of the council to work tirelessly towards securing victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.
The President said the party had delivered on its campaign promises and urged the campaign team to highlight the administration’s achievements while giving Nigerians renewed hope.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” Tinubu said, according to the statement.
He urged members of the various directorates to also engage party members who were not formally listed but could contribute to the campaign effort.
