Army Denies Abduction Of Islamic Scholars At Yari’s Residence, Says Victims Abducted Along Sububu Forest Axis

The Nigerian Army has refuted reports claiming that a group of Islamic scholars were abducted at the residence of Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The Army, in a statement issued on Sunday by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division, Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, described the report as misleading and false.
According to the statement, intelligence reports confirmed that some persons were abducted while traveling from the Sububu forest axis in Bakura Local Government Area to Talata Mafara.
The Army clarified that the incident did not occur at Senator Yari’s residence, as reported on various media platforms.
It added that troops, in collaboration with sister security agencies and local intelligence networks, had intensified efforts to rescue the victims.
The Army urged members of the public to disregard sensationalised narratives and unverified information capable of creating unnecessary panic or compromising ongoing tactical operations.
It further called on citizens to remain calm and vigilant while providing security forces with timely and actionable intelligence to support efforts to rescue abducted persons.
