Atiku Urges Tinubu to Suspend Gbajabiamila Over Alleged N400m Bribery, Budget Controversy

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, has called on President Bola Tinubu to suspend his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations of a N400 million bribery scandal and questions surrounding the budgetary allocation to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Atiku Media Office, the former Vice President argued that Gbajabiamila’s claim that the PFIPC does not exist has raised fresh concerns about the credibility of the 2026 national budget.

Atiku questioned how an agency allegedly described as non-existent could receive a budgetary allocation of N27.4 billion, saying the explanation had created more questions than answers.

He described the development as a serious matter that should not be dismissed with what he called weak and unconvincing explanations, warning that it could undermine public confidence in government accountability.

The ADC presidential candidate urged President Tinubu to demonstrate his commitment to transparency by suspending the Chief of Staff and allowing an independent investigation into the allegations.

According to Atiku, good governance is built on transparency and accountability, insisting that no public official should be shielded from scrutiny regardless of their position.
