Police Arrests Brother Over Murder of Couple in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Idrisu Musa, in connection with the gruesome murder of his elder brother, Muhammed Haruna, and his wife, Habiba Muhammed, in Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, the tragic incident occurred at about 5:15 a.m. on Friday, 9th May 2026, in Asarara Village, Kimba District of Jega LGA.
The statement explained that the victims were attacked with a cutlass while asleep in their home, leading to injuries that resulted in their deaths.
Police said substantial and implicating evidence linking the suspect to the crime has been recovered during the investigation.
The Command further revealed that the suspect had allegedly threatened and intimidated the deceased couple with a cutlass on several occasions before the incident.
The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, Umar M. Hadejia, has directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for detailed investigation and possible prosecution.
The Police Command assured members of the public that justice would be diligently pursued in the case.
