BREAKING: Tinubu Removes Wale Edun, Dangiwa in Cabinet Reshuffle
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council, removing Wale Edun as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, and Ahmed Dangiwa as Minister of Housing and Urban Development.
The changes were announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of Federation, who said the decision was contained in an official memo signed by the SGF, Senator George Akume.
According to the statement, Taiwo Oyedele has been appointed as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, while Dr. Muttaqha Darma will take over as Minister-designate for Housing and Urban Development.
The outgoing ministers have been instructed to conclude handover processes to their successors or supervising officials no later than Thursday, April 23, 2026.
Explaining the development, Akume said the reshuffle was intended to improve policy coordination, strengthen teamwork in government, and deliver better economic outcomes for Nigerians under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).The SGF also thanked the outgoing ministers for their service and said efforts to reposition the cabinet for improved performance would continue.
