The Sokoto State Hisbah Board has arrested 26 individuals in a fresh crackdown aimed at curbing activities it considers immoral within the state capital.
The arrests were made during a coordinated operation conducted under the board’s ongoing “Operation Tsaftace Birnin Shehu” campaign, according to a statement released on Thursday.
The exercise was led by the Commander General of the Hisbah Board, Malam Usman Abdullahi Jatau, and the Director of Da’awah, Imam Sirajo Abubakar.
Hisbah operatives carried out raids in several locations, including Nakasari, Hubbare, Offa Road, the Sokoto Central Motor Park, and Giginya Hotel, resulting in the arrest of 26 male and female suspects.
The board said the operation is part of efforts to uphold moral standards and maintain social order in the state capital through the “Operation Tsaftace Birnin Shehu” initiative.
While confirming the arrests, the statement did not disclose the identities of the suspects or provide details of the offences allegedly committed.
