Sokoto Education Ministry Mobilises Parents, Schools Ahead of 2026/2027 Session

The Sokoto State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) has launched a statewide mobilisation rally across the state metropolis to encourage parents and guardians to ensure the timely return of their children to school ahead of the 2026/2027 academic session.
The exercise, held as the long vacation draws to an end, is aimed at sensitising parents, teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders on the importance of prompt resumption and ensuring full student attendance at the beginning of the new session.
Speaking shortly after the rally, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Professor Ahmad Ladan Ala, said the initiative was part of the ministry’s efforts to create awareness and ensure a smooth commencement of first-term academic activities across the state.
Professor Ala said the state government had made adequate preparations for the new academic session and put necessary arrangements in place for its successful take-off.
He urged parents, teachers, school administrators and education managers to prepare adequately and discharge their responsibilities effectively.
Also speaking, the Acting Chairman of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Sokoto State, Bello Abubakar, said principals across the state were ready to receive students and commence academic activities as scheduled.
Abubakar, who is also the Principal of Sultan Bello Secondary School, Sokoto, commended the commissioner for initiating the mobilisation exercise, describing it as a timely intervention to remind parents and guardians that the long vacation had ended.
He urged parents to ensure that their children returned to school on the scheduled resumption date, stressing that academic activities would commence immediately.
The commissioner was accompanied during the rally by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Sanusi Aliyu Binji; Executive Chairman, State Teachers Service Board, Professor Mustafa Tukur Namakka; Executive Secretary, Arabic and Islamic Education Board, Ahmad Baba Altine; Executive Secretary, Agency for Mass Education, Dr Nura Bello; Executive Director, Nomadic Education, Tambari Dikko Goshe; and other directors and senior officials of the ministry and its parastatals.
