Court Verdict Affirming David Mark’s ADC Leadership, Boosts Party’s Resolve – Manir Dan’iya
By Fahad Faruk Galadanchi
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Sokoto State, Hon. Munir Muhammad Dan’iya (Walin Sokoto), has hailed the Federal High Court judgment affirming the party’s leadership, describing the ruling as a significant victory for democracy, constitutional order, and the rule of law.
In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Aminu Abdullahi, Dan’iya said the court’s decision had strengthened the confidence of party members and reinforced the ADC’s determination to offer credible leadership to Nigerians.
He explained that the court upheld the party’s preliminary objections, ruling that the dispute concerned the internal affairs of the ADC, which are beyond the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court.
The court also held that the plaintiff lacked the legal standing to institute the suit and failed to exhaust the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms before approaching the court.
Dan’iya said the judgment reaffirmed the principle that political parties have the constitutional right to regulate their internal affairs in line with their constitutions and democratic procedures.
According to him, the ruling is a victory for every member who believes in due process, internal democracy, and respect for the rule of law, adding that it further consolidates the unity and stability of the ADC as it prepares to provide Nigerians with purposeful leadership.
He congratulated the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, the National Working Committee, state executives, stakeholders, and members across the country for their steadfastness throughout the legal process.
The governorship candidate urged party faithful to move beyond the legal dispute and channel their energies toward strengthening the party at the grassroots, fostering unity, and engaging more closely with the people.
He said the ADC’s priority remains expanding its support base, promoting reconciliation within the party and presenting practical solutions to Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
Dan’iya also praised the judiciary for carrying out its constitutional responsibilities with independence and professionalism, noting that respect for court judgments remains vital to the growth and stability of Nigeria’s democracy.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the leadership of the ADC he pledged to continue working with party leaders and members to ensure the party records success in Sokoto State and across the country in the 2027 general elections.
He called on supporters to remain peaceful, law abiding and committed to the principles of justice, accountability, good governance, and national development, expressing confidence that a united and disciplined ADC is well positioned to provide the leadership needed to build a more secure, prosperous, and inclusive Nigeria.
