ADC Unveils New Primary Election Timetable, Reduces Cost of Nomination Forms
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a revised timetable for its 2026 primary elections, alongside updated nomination fees, following consultations with party leaders, aspirants, and stakeholders nationwide.
According to a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the sale and submission of nomination forms will take place from May 6 to May 13, 2026, with the deadline fixed for May 13.Screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 14 and 15, while results will be published on May 17.
Appeals arising from the screening will be handled between May 18 and 19, with the final list of cleared aspirants expected on May 20.The party also outlined key dates for its primaries.
Elections into State Houses of Assembly, the House of Representatives, and the Senate will hold on May 21, followed by governorship primaries on May 22. The presidential primary is slated for May 23. This will be followed by a National Executive Committee meeting on May 25 and a Special National Convention on May 26.
ADC further announced new nomination fees for aspirants. The presidential form is pegged at ₦90 million, governorship at ₦30 million, Senate at ₦10 million, House of Representatives at ₦5 million, and State Assembly at ₦2 million.
The party maintained its concession policy, offering a 50 percent discount to youth aspirants aged 18 to 35, and a 25 percent reduction for women and persons living with disabilities.
The ADC says the adjustments are aimed at strengthening internal democracy, improving inclusiveness, and ensuring a credible process as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
All aspirants have been urged to comply strictly with the updated guidelines and timelines.
