Troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have thwarted a kidnap attempt and rescued four abducted persons during a military operation in Surimi, a border community linking Kebbi and Sokoto states.

The successful operation was carried out on Friday July 10, following actionable intelligence on the activities of suspected terrorists around Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Military sources disclosed that the troops swiftly moved into the area and confronted the terrorists in a fierce exchange of gunfire. Unable to withstand the troops’ superior firepower, the attackers fled into the bush, abandoning the four victims.

The rescued victims were safely evacuated and later reunited with their families, while no soldier was injured during the operation.

Security officials hailed the mission as another major operational success in the ongoing offensive against terrorists and bandits under Operation FANSAN YAMMA stressing that sustained military pressure would continue to deny criminal groups safe havens across the NorthWest.
