Tinubu Extends 2025 Budget Implementation to December 31, 2026
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the Appropriation (Amendment) (No. 4) Bill, 2025, into law, extending the implementation period of the 2025 Appropriation Act from September 30 to December 31, 2026.
The amendment was passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, before being assented to by the President on Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the extension will provide Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) with additional time to complete ongoing capital projects.
The Presidency said the extension would also ensure that funds already appropriated are fully utilised for the benefit of Nigerians while preventing disruptions to critical government programmes.
President Tinubu commended the leadership and members of the National Assembly for their prompt consideration and passage of the amendment.
He described the development as another indication of cooperation between the Executive and Legislature in advancing national interests.
