Senator Rufai Hanga Resigns from Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)
Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial District and Senate Deputy Minority Whip, Dr. Rufai Hanga, has formally resigned his membership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a resignation letter dated August 3, 2026, and addressed to the Ward Chairman of the NDC in Dakata Ward, Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Hanga said his resignation takes immediate effect.
The lawmaker explained that his decision followed “careful reflection and personal deliberation,” adding that he was leaving the party to pursue other personal commitments and career paths.
“I am writing to formally notify you of my resignation from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), effective from today, 3rd August 2026,” the letter read.
Senator Hanga expressed appreciation to the ward leadership, executive committee and party members for their support, opportunities and fellowship throughout his time in the party.
He also requested that his name be removed from the party’s membership register at the ward level and stated that he had attached his official NDC membership card to the resignation letter.
