Ezeagu Urges Imo Youths to Register as INEC Extends Continuous Voter Registration

Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Thaddaus Ezeagu, a governorship aspirant in Imo State and a former coordinator of Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, has called on eligible youths across the state to seize the opportunity presented by the extension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by Independent National Electoral Commission to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Ezeagu made the appeal in a statement on Saturday, describing the two-week extension of the registration exercise as a rare opportunity for young people and first-time voters to participate actively in shaping the future of Imo State and Nigeria.

He urged all eligible residents who are yet to register, as well as those seeking to transfer their voter registration or replace lost or damaged voter cards, to visit designated INEC registration centres before the new deadline.

According to him, the power to bring about positive leadership and good governance begins with voter registration and active participation in elections.

“The youth constitute the largest voting population in our state. They must not allow this opportunity to pass them by. Registering to vote is not just a civic responsibility; it is a powerful tool for determining the future of our communities and ensuring accountable leadership,” he said.

Ezeagu stressed that democracy can only thrive when citizens actively participate in the electoral process, urging young people to reject political apathy and embrace their constitutional right to vote.

The governorship hopeful reiterated his commitment to providing quality education, improving security, creating jobs, empowering young entrepreneurs, and ensuring transparent and people-centred governance if elected governor.

He noted that greater youth participation in the electoral process would strengthen democracy and encourage leaders to remain accountable to the people.

Ezeagu also appealed to community leaders, religious organisations, civil society groups and youth associations to mobilise eligible residents to take advantage of the extended registration period, saying every registered voter represents another voice for the development of Imo State.

He expressed confidence that increased voter registration would enhance citizens’ participation in the forthcoming elections and contribute to a more inclusive democratic process in the state.
