Dan’iya Donates N400m Relief Materials, Vehicles to IDPs, Vulnerable Persons

A philanthropist, Alhaji Murtala Abdulkadir Dan’iya Jarma (Dallatun Sokoto) has donated relief materials and operational vehicles valued at about ₦400 million to orphans, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable residents across Sokoto State.
The donation, which comprised 12,350 bags of rice, 12,000 wrappers and five new vehicles, was distributed on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Agency.
Beneficiaries of the food and clothing items were drawn from the 87 districts across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state, in a move aimed at extending the intervention to vulnerable families across Sokoto.
Speaking during the distribution, Dan’iya said the initiative was motivated by the need to cushion the effects of economic hardship on less privileged residents.
“This gesture is aimed at supporting vulnerable members of our communities and alleviating the hardship being experienced by families,” he said.
He explained that the five vehicles were donated to the Sokoto State Hisbah Board and the Zakkat and Endowment Agency to improve their operational capacity.
According to him, two vehicles were allocated to the Hisbah Board, while three were given to the Zakkat and Endowment Agency.
Dan’iya also commended the Sokoto State Government and other political leaders for their efforts toward improving the welfare of citizens.
He specifically recognised the contributions of former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto North, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, as well as his mentor, Alhaji Umarun Kwabo A.A. Jarman Sokoto, MFR.
The Chairman of the Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Agency, Malam Lawal Maidoki, described Dan’iya’s intervention as a reflection of his longstanding commitment to supporting vulnerable members of society.
“He has been identifying with the masses in difficult times and supporting the less privileged for years. We pray that Allah increases him in wealth and grants him good health,” Maidoki said.
Maidoki urged other affluent individuals in the state to emulate the philanthropist by extending support to people facing hardship, stressing that acts of charity attract immense rewards.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing the donation as timely assistance to families struggling with economic challenges.
They prayed for continued prosperity, good health and strengthened faith for the philanthropist, while commending his commitment to supporting vulnerable people in the state.
