Customs Appoints Isah Abdullahi Acting Controller of Sokoto-Zamfara Command

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has appointed Haliru Isah Abdullahi as the Acting Customs Area Controller of the Sokoto-Zamfara Area Command.
The command’s spokesman, Bashir Tanimu, announced the development in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Isah Abdullahi officially assumed office on Thursday after taking over from Babagana Shettima at a handover ceremony held at the command’s headquarters in Sokoto.
Tanimu said the new acting controller formally received the command’s flag, official documents and other responsibilities from Shettima during the ceremony.
Addressing officers and men of the command after assuming duty, Isah Abdullahi thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale-Adeniyi, and the management of the service for entrusting him with the responsibility.
He also praised his predecessor for his leadership and described Shettima as a “crisis manager per excellence” noting that he had left the command in a better position than he found it.
The new acting controller pledged to consolidate the achievements recorded by the outgoing controller while strengthening discipline, professionalism and integrity among personnel.
He stressed that these values were essential to effective border security, trade facilitation and improved revenue generation for national development.
“Discipline and professionalism remain the bedrock of the service and are non negotiable tools for effective border security, facilitation of legitimate trade and enhanced revenue collection for national development” he said.
In his remarks, Shettima welcomed Isah Abdullahi to the command and urged officers and men to extend their full support and cooperation to the new leadership.
He said collective commitment and cooperation remained vital to the effective implementation of the Customs Service’s core mandates, particularly revenue collection, trade facilitation and border security.
The command spokesman further reaffirmed the NCS’s commitment to intensifying its operations towards achieving its statutory responsibilities and contributing to national economic development.
