Tinubu Returns from Vacation, Declares Himself Healthy, Ready to Resume Duties

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending nearly four weeks in Europe, assuring Nigerians that he is in good health and fully prepared to resume his official responsibilities.

The President arrived in Lagos from Paris on Tuesday evening, bringing to an end his extended working vacation, which began on August 30 with a visit to London before he proceeded to France.

Speaking to journalists shortly after his arrival, Tinubu dismissed concerns about his health and expressed readiness to continue his duties.

“Ready to work. There’s nothing wrong. Well, rumours will always be emanating from politics. But the fact remains that I am here, healthy, sound and ready to go,” the President declared

Tinubu’s return follows public and political debate over his prolonged absence, with opposition figures questioning the duration of his European trip and his decision not to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Presidency had maintained that the President remained actively involved in government affairs throughout his stay abroad, keeping in regular contact with officials and providing direction on national matters.

Vice President Kashim Shettima represented Tinubu at several international engagements, including the United Nations General Assembly.

During his visit to France, the President held meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré. According to the Presidency, his engagements also included discussions with investors on major projects, including the proposed Gateway Deep Sea Port in Ogun State.

Tinubu is expected to remain in Lagos for activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1.

The President is scheduled to participate in official engagements during the celebrations before returning to Abuja to continue his duties.
