2027: Gov. Dauda Lawal Emerges APC Consensus Candidate

Governor Dauda Lawal has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the APC Governorship Primaries Committee chaired by Alhaji Babagana Uba declared Governor Lawal winner after an affirmation exercise conducted across the 14 local government areas of the state.

The committee announced that the governor secured a total of 301,893 votes through the consensus affirmation process witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The statement noted that the adoption results were collated from all local government areas and signed by the APC state collation chief, Malam Abubakar Mohammed Nakwada, alongside members of the party’s collation team.

Reacting to his emergence, Governor Lawal described the development as a historic moment for the state, saying major stakeholders had united under one political platform.

He thanked party members and residents of the state for their continued support and confidence in his administration, assuring that his government would intensify development projects across critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and the economy.

The governor said the overwhelming support shown during the affirmation process would further motivate his administration’s efforts to “rescue and rebuild” Zamfara State.

He also commended members of the APC primary election committee and other party officials for conducting what he described as a successful exercise across the state.
