Court Grants El-Rufai ₦100m Bail, Orders Monthly DSS Reporting

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has been granted bail in the sum of ₦100 million by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, who delivered the ruling on Monday, imposed strict conditions for the bail, including the provision of one surety in like sum.

According to the court, the surety must reside in either Maitama or Asokoro in Abuja and must submit the original Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property to the court registry. The surety is also required to be a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 17, with evidence of salary payments for at least three months verified by a bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.

The court further directed the surety to depose to an affidavit of means, sign a bail bond, and provide a recent passport photograph alongside a tax clearance certificate covering the last six months.

As part of the conditions, El-Rufai is to surrender all valid international passports to the court registry and report to the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) every last Friday of the month by 10 a.m. pending the determination of the case.

Justice Abdulmalik warned that any failure to comply with the conditions would result in an automatic revocation of the bail.

The court also ordered the former governor to submit a letter of attestation from the Chairman of the Kaduna Traditional Council.
