Tambuwal Pays Tribute to Yar’Adua, Celebrates Legacy of Integrity
Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has paid a heartfelt tribute to Nigeria’s late President, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, describing him as a defining figure in the nation’s democratic journey whose legacy continues to resonate years after his passing.
In a message marking the 16th anniversary of Yar’Adua’s death on May 5, 2010, Tambuwal noted that the late president embodied rare humility and quiet strength; qualities he said set him apart in Nigeria’s political history.
He emphasized that Yar’Adua governed with principle rather than theatrics, maintaining a firm commitment to the rule of law and institutional strength. According to him, the former president believed strongly that democratic institutions must take precedence over individual power.
Tambuwal further highlighted Yar’Adua’s deep sense of responsibility, noting that he led with dignity while remaining conscious of Nigeria’s fragile unity and the importance of preserving it.
He described the late leader as more than just a president, but a moral reference point who demonstrated that integrity in public office is a conscious choice.
Reflecting on the years since his death, Tambuwal said Yar’Adua’s absence is still felt, as the issues he championed; good governance, accountability, and nation building remain central to Nigeria’s progress.
He urged Nigerians to remember not just how Yar’Adua died, but how he lived, adding that his life stands as a lasting example of decency in power and humility in leadership.
Tambuwal also prayed for the repose of the late president’s soul, asking Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus.
