Sokoto Government Issues Deadline to Street Traders to Vacate Roadsides

The Sokoto State Government has issued a deadline to traders operating along roadsides to vacate such areas in the interest of public safety.
The Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Barrister Nasiru Aliyu Dan Tsoho, made this known during an inspection tour of several locations across Sokoto metropolis.
He explained that the directive became necessary to protect the lives of motorists and safeguard the property of traders.
He emphasized that the government is not against trading activities but insists that such businesses must be conducted in designated markets and approved locations.
The commissioner warned that the government would enforce legal action against anyone who fails to comply once the deadline expires.
He also urged those affected to respect law and order, noting that the government is determined to prevent avoidable accidents and hazards associated with roadside trading.
According to him, the visit marked a final round of inspection and a last warning stressing that all traders must vacate the identified areas without exception.
The locations visited include Zabira Roundabout, Alu Flyover, Ahmadu Bello Way, Dandima Flyover, Kara Roundabout, Rijiya Flyover, and Unguwar Rogo Roundabout.
