Kwankwaso Resigns from NNPP, Signals Political Realignment
A former Governor of Kano State and NNPP Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general elections, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has officially resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party.
In a press statement released on Sunday, Kwankwaso announced that his resignation takes immediate effect, bringing an end to his role as the party’s National Leader and flagbearer in the last general elections.
He described the decision as difficult, noting that he had served the party with commitment and dedication. However, he said the current political developments in the country necessitated a strategic realignment.
According to him, the evolving political landscape requires him to align with another platform that offers a better opportunity to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Kwankwaso expressed gratitude to the party leadership, including National Chairman Ajjuji Ahmed, as well as members of the National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, and supporters of the Kwankwasiyya movement for their support throughout his time in the party.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working with like-minded stakeholders towards building a more prosperous Nigeria.
