Sultan of Sokoto Condoles Hotpen Publisher Aliyu Dangida Over Wife’s Death
The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has condoled with the family of the Chief Executive Officer and Editor-in-Chief of Hotpen Newspaper and Mahangar Arewa Magazine, Kano, Mallam Aliyu Muhammad Dangida, over the death of his wife, Hajia Maryam Abdullahi Gote.
Hajia Maryam died on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Arewa Surgery, Kano, after battling heart-related complications.
In a condolence message issued by the Media Team of the Sultan on Thursday, the Sultan described Aliyu Dangida as one of the highly effective members representing the North-West on his media team.
He expressed sadness over the death, noting that the deceased had been a source of strength, support and wise counsel to her husband, whose contributions to Nigeria’s media and public discourse remain valuable.
The Sultan said the loss was particularly painful because Hajia Maryam’s presence and guidance were greatly needed at a time when her husband continued to make contributions to the media and society.
He prayed for the forgiveness of her shortcomings and for Allah to admit her soul into Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
The Sultan also urged Mallam Aliyu Dangida and the bereaved family to take solace in Allah and accept the death as an act of divine decree.
He prayed Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
