Sponsored Youths Behind Attack on Governor’s Entourage in Sakaba – Kebbi Speaker

By Yusuf Gwandu

The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Salihu Maikasuwa Dangoje, has alleged that sponsored youths were behind the attack on the entourage of Governor Nasir Idris during a sympathy visit to Dirin Daji, headquarters of Sakaba Local Government Area.

Dangoje condemned the incident, describing it as unfortunate and unacceptable.

The attack reportedly occurred while the governor was visiting communities affected by recent security challenges in parts of Sakaba Local Government Area.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday in Zuru, the Speaker alleged that the perpetrators were sponsored youths who lacked patriotism and good upbringing.

He said although the governor was not directly affected, some members of his entourage were targeted during the incident.

Dangoje expressed disappointment that some individuals would engage in such an act despite what he described as the governor’s show of love and respect for the people of Sakaba and the entire Zuru Emirate.

The Speaker maintained that the attack was shameful and suggested that the perpetrators were motivated by selfish political interests.

He, however, reaffirmed the support and loyalty of the people of Sakaba Local Government and the entire Zuru Emirate to Governor Idris and his administration.

Dangoje also commended the people of Sakaba and the Zuru Emirate, particularly supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the warm reception accorded the governor and his entourage during the visit.

He assured that measures would be taken to prevent a recurrence, adding that an investigation would be conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and enable the government to take appropriate action.
