Sokoto Gov’t Approves N47.25m Support for Kebbe Attack Victims

The Sokoto State Government has announced N47.25 million in direct cash assistance to families of 41 people killed and 25 others injured in a recent attack in Kebbe Local Government Area of the state.
The Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, disclosed the intervention on Sunday, August 24, 2026, during a condolence visit to the affected communities.
According to the state government, 37 of the deceased were from Ungushi, two were from Kebbe, while four were security personnel who lost their lives during the violence.
Each of the 41 deceased victims will receive N1 million for their families, in addition to two bags each of maize and millet and one bag of rice.
The 25 injured victims currently receiving medical treatment will each receive N250,000, alongside one bag each of rice, millet and maize.
The cash assistance amounts to N47.25 million, based on the figures announced by the state government.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu, represented by his deputy, Idris Mohammed Gobir, visited Kebbe LGA following the attack to sympathise with the affected communities and families.
The governor reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting security agencies in the fight against banditry and other criminal activities across Sokoto State.
He also urged residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to enable them respond swiftly to emerging security threats.
The intervention, according to the government, is aimed at providing immediate relief to bereaved families and injured victims as security agencies continue efforts to restore peace and protect communities in the affected areas.
