The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State has affirmed former Deputy Governor, Munir Muhammad Dan’iya, as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The affirmation followed an election conducted across the 244 wards in the 23 local government areas of the state.
Announcing the outcome of the exercise, the Chief Returning Officer, Prof. Aminu Abubakar Illela, disclosed that Dan’iya secured a total of 52,831 votes cast statewide, emerging as the party’s sole candidate for the forthcoming election.

He pledged to lead with diligence, fairness and commitment, while expressing optimism that the ADC would defeat the ruling APC at both the state and national levels in the 2027 elections.
The ADC flag bearer also appreciated the leader of the party in the state and former governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, for his support and leadership role in strengthening the party ahead of the elections.

Dan’iya further commended other party leaders, stakeholders and members for their unity and dedication, while extending special appreciation to fellow aspirants who participated in the process.
He urged all party members to close ranks and work together in the collective interest of the party to ensure victory in 2027.
