Police Introduce Online Renewal Process for Expired Tinted Glass Permits

The Nigeria Police Force has outlined steps for motorists to renew expired tinted glass permits online through the Police Specialised Services Automation Project (POSSAP) portal.

The renewal process allows vehicle owners to apply for the extension of their expired permits through the police’s official digital platform without necessarily visiting a police facility, depending on the verification option selected.

In an announcement shared on X on Thursday, POSSAP advised motorists to renew their permits before expiration to avoid inconveniences during routine traffic checks.

To begin the process, applicants are required to visit the official POSSAP website at and log in to their existing accounts.

After logging in, motorists should click on the Profile icon at the top-right corner of the page, select Service Request, and proceed to Renewals.

The portal will display expired permits associated with the account. Applicants should identify the permit they wish to renew, click on Actions, and select Renew Permit to continue.

Verification Process

POSSAP provides two options for verifying vehicles during the renewal process.

Motorists who prefer physical verification should select the SIB/FIB option, then choose their state and the appropriate police command.

Alternatively, applicants can opt for online verification by selecting Verify Documents Online, choosing their state and police command, and clicking Continue to VVS to validate the vehicle’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

Following successful verification, applicants are required to click Generate Invoice & Continue and complete the necessary payment.

The renewal application will subsequently be processed and approved by the relevant authorities.

POSSAP also advised motorists to conduct their transactions exclusively through its official portal to avoid potential scams and unauthorised payment channels.

For enquiries or technical assistance, applicants can contact the support team via email at info@possap.gov.ng or call 02018884040.

The initiative forms part of the Nigeria Police Force’s efforts to expand digital access to specialised services, simplify administrative procedures, and improve convenience for members of the public.
