Tinubu to Launch 2027 Re-election Campaign in Kaduna October 24 – Yari

President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to launch his 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna State on October 24, 2026, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has announced.

Yari disclosed this on Friday after meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he briefed the President on preparations for the campaign and plans for visits to states across the country.

According to him, the inaugural meeting of the Presidential Campaign Council is scheduled for October 14 at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, ahead of the official campaign flag-off.

He explained that the campaign would commence in Kaduna before moving to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Maiduguri, Borno State.

Yari added that the full campaign timetable, including planned visits to other states, would be made public after the council’s inauguration.

Addressing concerns about opposition candidates, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Yari expressed confidence in Tinubu’s chances of securing re-election.

The former Zamfara State governor argued that winning the presidency requires substantial political support from both northern and southern Nigeria, insisting that neither region could independently guarantee victory.

He cited the electoral history of former President Muhammadu Buhari, arguing that Buhari’s strong support in the North was insufficient to secure victory without broader geographical backing.

Yari claimed that Tinubu currently enjoys support across more than 10 states in both the North and South, describing the President’s political standing as an advantage ahead of the 2027 election.

He also defended the administration’s performance, asserting that the government had made progress in addressing the country’s economic challenges and had achievements to present to Nigerians.

“We are not promising. We are doing it, and we are going to continue,” Yari said.

Tinubu appointed Yari as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council on August 22, 2026, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was named secretary.

The President chairs the council, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda serving as vice chairmen.
