Group Accuses ACF, CNG of Politicising Insecurity, Commends Tinubu’s Security Efforts

A civil society organisation, Grassroot Advocacy for Peace and Good Governance, has accused the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) of politicising insecurity in Nigeria through what it described as regional bias.
In a statement signed by its National Chairman, Comrade Usman Mohammed Anache, the group alleged that both organisations have consistently failed to acknowledge successes recorded by security agencies in tackling insecurity in northern Nigeria while criticising the Federal Government’s security efforts.
The group cited the rescue of the abducted schoolgirls in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, describing it as one of Nigeria’s most successful rescue operations. It noted that President Bola Tinubu directed the Minister of Defence, the Inspector-General of Police, the National Security Adviser and Service Chiefs to remain in Kebbi until the victims were rescued.
According to the group, the same organisations were quick to criticise the Federal Government over the recent rescue of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State while failing to commend previous security successes in the North.
The organisation also argued that combating insurgency in northern Nigeria is more complex due to alleged collaboration between some individuals and criminal groups, making military operations more challenging than in other parts of the country.
It commended President Tinubu for increasing budgetary allocations to the military and security agencies, saying the investment has contributed to recent gains in the fight against terrorism and banditry.
The group further praised security personnel for their sacrifices and also applauded recent military operations in Zamfara State, where it claimed more than 500 bandits, including notorious leaders, were neutralised.
It called on Nigerians to reject attempts by any organisation to politicise insecurity and instead support ongoing efforts to restore peace across the country.
