Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has received the 2026 Efficient Public Resource Management and Transparency Award from Blueprint Newspapers in recognition of his administration’s commitment to fiscal accountability and prudent management of public resources.

Governor Lawal received the award on Tuesday at the 8th edition of the Blueprint Newspapers Annual Public Lecture, Impact Series and Awards, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The event, themed “Security Challenges and Integrity of Nigeria’s 2027 Elections,” brought together policymakers, security chiefs, political leaders, diplomats, academics, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to discuss measures for peaceful, credible and transparent elections.

Speaking after receiving the award, Lawal expressed appreciation to the management of Blueprint Newspapers, saying the recognition demonstrated that his administration’s efforts to rebuild Zamfara were being noticed beyond the state.

He said his government had recorded achievements in security, education, healthcare, economic development, human capital and infrastructure during its three years in office, attributing the progress to what he described as transparent governance.

Blueprint Newspapers said the governor was honoured for his prudent management of public resources, fiscal accountability and efforts to promote transparent governance in Zamfara State.

The newspaper’s Managing Director, Salisu Umar, described Lawal as a leader who combines professional experience with public service, noting his background in diplomacy, banking and politics.

According to the newspaper, the governor’s administration has pursued policies aimed at restoring stability, improving infrastructure, strengthening public institutions and creating opportunities for economic growth.

It also highlighted the administration’s focus on financial discipline, public sector accountability, responsible budgeting and directing government resources toward projects with measurable benefits for residents.

Blueprint further cited the administration’s investments in security operations, rural communities, road construction and rehabilitation, public buildings, education and healthcare as part of its broader development agenda.

The newspaper said the award underscored the importance of responsible stewardship of public resources and the link between fiscal discipline and inclusive development.

The recognition comes as Governor Lawal’s administration continues to implement programmes aimed at rebuilding infrastructure, strengthening public institutions and addressing security and socioeconomic challenges across Zamfara State.
