No fewer than 50 Forest Guards have been deployed to the Forward Operating Base (F.O.B) in Gatawa, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, as part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen counter terrorism and security operations in the region.

Military sources disclosed that the personnel arrived at the F.O.B on June 17 where they were formally documented and subsequently integrated into ongoing security activities within the area of responsibility.

According to the sources, the personnel underwent orientation, familiarisation, and cadre activities aimed at preparing them for operations and acquainting them with the security environment and operational procedures in the area.

The deployment forms part of a broader initiative by the Federal Government to enhance surveillance, intelligence gathering, and rapid response capabilities in communities affected by insecurity across the Sabon Birni axis.

Security authorities expressed optimism that the integration of the Forest Guards would strengthen collaboration among security agencies and other stakeholders, thereby improving efforts to maintain peace, stability, and public safety in the affected communities.

The deployment is part of a wider plan that seeks to bolster security presence in vulnerable areas and support ongoing operations against criminal and terrorist elements operating within the region.
