“Enough Is Enough”: Atiku Accuses APC of Using State Institutions Against Opposition After ADC Primary Victory

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of using state institutions to intimidate opposition figures, declaring that such actions must stop.

Atiku made the remarks shortly after emerging victorious in the party’s presidential primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing party supporters and delegates after the announcement of the results, the former vice president alleged that politicians facing investigations or prosecution often receive protection once they defect to the APC.

“Once a person joins the APC, the harassment by security and anti-corruption agencies ceases, and the charges against them magically disappear. This abuse of power must stop,” Atiku said.

He further warned against what he described as attempts by the presidency and state institutions to interfere in the affairs of the ADC.

“Let me warn, let me warn again that any further attempt to interfere in the affairs of the ADC by the presidency, INEC, and judiciary will be fiercely resisted. Enough is enough,” he declared.

Atiku also extended an olive branch to his fellow aspirants, Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, urging them to return to the party fold and work together to “save Nigeria.”

According to him, the ADC must remain united and focused on providing Nigerians with an alternative platform capable of addressing the country’s economic and governance challenges.

The fiercely contested primary election recorded over 2.5 million votes cast nationwide, with Atiku polling 1,855,787 votes to defeat Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen.
