Akpabio Alleges Opposition Sponsoring Insecurity, Expresses Hope for Post-2027 Improvement

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has alleged that rising insecurity in Nigeria is being fueled by opposition political parties ahead of the next general elections.

He made this assertion on Tuesday in Abuja during the commissioning of the Nigerian Revenue Service Corporate Headquarters, where he defended the performance of the administration of Bola Tinubu.

Akpabio claimed that political rivals, unable to effectively challenge the government, have resorted to sponsoring violence to destabilize the country. He, however, expressed confidence that the situation would improve shortly after the 2027 general elections, suggesting that the unrest is largely politically motivated.

The Senate President also criticised opposition parties, describing them as disorganised and lacking direction. He cited instances of political figures allegedly abandoning significant electoral support to switch allegiances.

While calling on Nigerians to remain patient, Akpabio maintained that the current administration is making steady progress and remains committed to national development.

He further praised the Executive Chairman of the Nigerian Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, commending his performance and noting that he has earned public approval despite widespread skepticism often associated with tax authorities
