Tambuwal Commends ADC Unity, Alleges APC’s Governance Failures and Electoral Manipulation
Former Governor of Sokoto State and Senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has commended leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State for their support and commitment toward the successful conduct of the party’s ward, local government, and state congresses that led to the emergence of Hon. Abdullahi Maigwandu as State Chairman, Hon. Yusuf Sarkin Fulani as Secretary, and other Executives.
Speaking at the State headquarters of the party in Sokoto, Tambuwal described Sokoto as a stronghold of the ADC, expressing confidence that sustained unity and coordinated mobilisation would tremendously boost membership registration and strengthen the party’s structure across the state.
He emphasised the need for cohesion among members, noting that such unity is essential to achieving what he described as the “liberation” of Sokoto State and Nigeria at large.
The senator, however, criticised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging widespread failure in governance. He accused the federal government of mismanaging resources and worsening insecurity, poverty, and hunger across the country.
According to him, Nigerians are already experiencing the consequences of the current administration’s policies, with expectations largely unmet in key sectors affecting citizens’ welfare.
Tambuwal also raised concerns over alleged attempts by the ruling government to undermine opposition parties, warning that such actions could weaken Nigeria’s multiparty democracy. Reaffirming the ADC’s resolve, he stated that party members would remain steadfast, united, and committed to resisting any form of political intimidation, expressing optimism that the party would emerge victorious in future elections if electoral integrity is upheld.
In a more pointed allegation, Tambuwal claimed that President Tinubu did not genuinely win the 2023 presidential election, asserting that the outcome was marred by electoral malpractice.
He argued that the President is aware of what he described as a lack of legitimate mandate, which he said is reflected in the current state of governance.
The senator further alleged that the Tinubu administration is stockpiling large sums of money in preparation for the 2027 elections, with the intention of influencing voters.
He claimed that despite his position in the National Assembly, budgets for 2023, 2024, and 2025 have not been properly implemented, alleging that public funds have been diverted for political purposes, including vote-buying efforts.
Tambuwal also expressed concern over the management of borrowed funds, alleging misappropriation and involvement of key actors within the system. He warned that both Sokoto State and the nation at large are witnessing a pattern of financial accumulation aimed at influencing future elections.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to remain vigilant and support efforts aimed at strengthening democratic values and safeguarding the integrity of the country’s electoral process.
