Hayatu-Deen Rejects ADC Primary Results, Alleges Rigging
Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, one of the presidential aspirants of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced that he will boycott the official announcement of the party’s presidential primary results over alleged irregularities during the exercise.
The ADC held its nationwide direct primary on Monday ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, and Hayatu-Deen emerging as key contenders in the race.
Preliminary results from several states reportedly showed Atiku taking an early lead with wide margins in states including Sokoto, Yobe, and Gombe.
Reacting in a post on X on Tuesday, Hayatu-Deen expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the primary, alleging widespread vote manipulation across the country.
According to him, the process was compromised by irregularities that undermined the credibility of the election.
Hayatu-Deen stated that he would not attend the announcement of the results and disclosed that he was consulting with his team on the next line of action.
The ADC primary election was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission as the party prepares to field a candidate against President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
