Adeleke Wins 19 Osun LGAs as APC’s Oyebamiji Takes 11
Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has won 19 of the 30 Local Government Areas in the Osun State governorship election, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, secured victory in 11 LGAs.
The results, collated from figures announced by returning officers across the state, showed a competitive contest between the two leading candidates.
Adeleke recorded significant victories in several LGAs, including Ede North, Ede South, Osogbo, Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North, Ilesa West, Iwo and Oriade, among others.
Oyebamiji, meanwhile, won several LGAs, including Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun, Obokun, Atakumosa West, Irewole, Atakumosa East, Isokan, Olaoluwa, Ife South and Olorunda.
Some of the closest contests were recorded in Boluwaduro, where Adeleke polled 7,118 votes against Oyebamiji’s 7,050, and Isokan, where Oyebamiji secured 14,063 votes to Adeleke’s 13,765.
In Ilesa East, Oyebamiji recorded a strong performance with 16,208 votes against Adeleke’s 12,280. He also won Irewole with 29,972 votes, while Adeleke polled 10,934.
Adeleke, however, posted a commanding victory in Ede North, where he received 35,427 votes against Oyebamiji’s 10,283. He also won Ede South with 26,188 votes to the APC candidate’s 6,219.
In Osogbo, Adeleke polled 36,480 votes against Oyebamiji’s 30,474, while in Ife Central, he secured 21,171 votes against 15,913 for the APC candidate.
The results also showed varying levels of support for other parties, with the ADC recording smaller figures in most of the LGAs. The party’s highest reported performance among the listed results came in Ejigbo, where it polled 5,053 votes.
With results from all 30 LGAs announced, Adeleke is now awaiting the official declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which will formally announce the winner of the governorship election.
