Sokoto Muslim Groups Seek Govt, Sultan’s Intervention Over Alleged Remarks by Lukuwa

A coalition of Muslim religious organisations in Sokoto State has petitioned the state government and the Sultan of Sokoto over alleged remarks made by Musa Lukuwa concerning Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The groups, represented by a delegation, submitted their petition to the relevant authorities, urging them to urgently investigate the matter and take necessary action in line with the law.
According to the petitioners, the remarks attributed to Lukuwa were considered offensive to the personality of the Prophet and had generated widespread concern within the Muslim community.
They further alleged that the comments had the potential to create religious tension and disturb the prevailing peace and stability in the state.
The organisations called on the Sokoto State Government and the Sultanate Council to intervene promptly, stressing that the matter should be handled through lawful and appropriate channels.
They said their action was aimed at safeguarding religious harmony, peaceful coexistence and public order, rather than allowing the issue to escalate into confrontation.
The groups also appealed to residents, particularly members of the Muslim community, to remain calm and avoid any action capable of worsening tensions while awaiting the response of the authorities.
They maintained that any necessary steps should be taken strictly in accordance with the law after proper investigation of the allegations.
