ICPC Questions Tinubu’s Chief of Staff Gbajabiamila Over PFIPC Probe

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has questioned the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, as part of its ongoing investigation into the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Gbajabiamila appeared before investigators at the ICPC headquarters in Abuja on Monday following an invitation from the anti-corruption agency. His lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed that the presidential aide fully cooperated with the investigation before returning to work.
According to Ogunye, Gbajabiamila honoured the invitation in compliance with President Tinubu’s directive for a comprehensive investigation into the activities of the alleged fake agency.
“In full cooperation with the ICPC acting as directed by the President of Nigeria, I hereby confirm that my client, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, responded to the invitation of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC),” Ogunye said.
“My client gave his testimony, responded to questions accordingly, and has returned to his duty post,” he added.
The investigation follows President Tinubu’s July 2 directive ordering the ICPC to carry out a thorough probe into the PFIPC controversy.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga had announced that the President instructed the anti-corruption agency to conclude its investigation and submit a comprehensive report within 30 days.
The PFIPC has been at the centre of public controversy after allegations emerged that it operated without lawful authority, prompting the Presidency to order a full-scale investigation into its activities.
